I've added black hematite beads and it does make a difference in the design!
It's great to just bead around the design in the pattern of the fabric. The brown shells and the little gold cabochons are focals and I added in gold cord among those pieces before I started stitching circles of seed beads. Easy Peasy! I like the African nature of the fabric.
Simply amazing. Lucky friend to be receiving this.
ReplyDeleteRita, You are so nice!
ReplyDeleteI am the luckiest woman to have such good friends in my life. This bracelet is going to Canada. My friend is one of the best beaders Canada has to offer. The work she has done on ArtBras, is mind-boggling. The hours and hours of beading, using hands that sometimes would not cooperate, makes me grateful for each ArtBra she designed.
My beading is not up to par with her expertise, but I'm betting from a distance, the bracelet will look fine on her little wrist! lol
My motto is to go for the overall effect and to not get hung up on the perfect technique! And if I worried about technique, when I create, I would never get anything started or finished. And my studio is filled with UFO's - fabric and otherworldy gremlins that inhabited this space a 150 years ago!
Great idea to let the fabric help with the design aspect of the piece. The fabric really speaks in this technique. Lovely and now I want to give it a try!

Thanks Deb,
ReplyDeleteWith my hoarding addiction, after I made my first cuff bracelet, I started collecting men's ties. Can't help myself. Yes, let the print on the tie determine the beaded design. Too much fun, mindless and relaxting!
